Playoff Bracket

High Roller Bracket

Well how about that?! Just two days after finishing the regular season and we’re here for our Stuffed Super Saturday! Playoffs for all are starting at with some GREAT matchups to kick us off.  Instead of going with a traditional playoff preview of the matchups, we’re to go down the reasons as to why every team should, can, and won’t win the chalice this season. (And while I’m not hiding behind a shroud of mystery: Ghost Writer protections still apply. If I call you out, it’s all in good, clean fun so don’t try and roll up on me at the bar!)

#12 Brooklane 99

Why They Can Win: The trio of Abby, Viggy, & Ryan are coming off two of their best games of the season on Thursday, including a 333 from Ryan! Plus it’s Skeeball and anything can happen.

Why They Won’t Win: Butters shows up instead of Ryan and he can’t find the magic to pull off the upset.

#11 Flock of Skeegals

Why They Can Win: There’s always a chance folks can get hot. Jen Tanner proved that by finishing the season with back to back 400s, & both Dionne & Mary finished with two of their highest scores of the season with their last rolls.

Why They Won’t Win: Sadly, Tanner won’t be around Super Saturday so it’ll be curious to see who they’ll get to replace her. If it’s another rookie, it’s going to be pretty tough to win against some of the top teams in SkeeBoston.

#10 Alex Alex “Alex”

Why They Can Win: It appears that Alex Carr finally rested up from running the Marathon and put up his better scores at the end of the season and also appears rookskee Alex…er…Trenton was finding his 40 on his last roll on Thursday with a season high of 270. If Alex Kruck can get to 300, then they will be a tougher out than their ranking suggests.

Why They Won’t Win: Not enough Alex’s. Don’t think you fooled us with “Trenton”!

#9 Squid Lane

Why They Can Win: Anytime Everett’s in a tournament, never count him out. (-_______-). He’ll have his work cut out with him to find a sub with Mendes away this Super Saturday but left him a solid 325 average to get a replacement. Megan has been a little streaky but if she stays closer to the 270’s she hit a couple times this season, the odds will ever be in their favor.

Why They Won’t Win: Duke will close the league down if he even sniffs the finals this season and Everett will sacrifice himself for the greater good.

#8 AARSkee

Why They Can Win: When you have a duo that put up similar averages as Moody & Robo did this season (in the 330-340 range) they can both find a way to get in a groove. If each of them flirt with a 400 while having Polischuk with those playoff intangibles, could easily see them make a cinderella run to the chalice.

Why They Won’t Win: They’ll need a lot to go their way: If Robo can’t seem to get find his 40, Moody goes cold on hundos or John reverts to his under 250 ways and they’ll be in TROUBLE. UH OHHHHH.

#7 Skeerial Killers

Why They Can Win: The ladies have had some peaks and valleys this season. Marissa was the leading lady this skeeson with a 363 average, Katie finished with a career high average of 293 and Jan can find some fluffernutter induced consistency by literally rolling a 358 twice in the same night.

Why They Won’t Win: They’ve been all over the damn place this season. As they’ve had a high score of 1078 to a low of 785 (!!!). We won’t know which version of the Skeerial Killers we’ll get and odds are they’ll be killed instead of killing on the lanes.

#6 Teddy Needs A Drink

Why They Can Win: Brian’s won a bunch of these already, including last season’s (-______-). Teaming up with Liz & last season’s HRT winner, Christina has them as a sneaky candidate to win this whole thing because all it takes is getting in a groove to win this.

Why They Won’t Win: Lane 1 has been the bane of their existence as that’s where they’ve had their lowest scores of the season. Would be bad news bears if they caught that lane especially against a team like Whole Lotta Holes.

#5 The Great Gatskee

Why They Can Win: Dark horse potential here folks. Cory Magno finishing 6th with another campaign with over 390, Chelsea has the potential to match Cory’s score, and Nate’s on a 323 average over his last four rolls. It’s very hard to beat a team that can all be very good and this team has it.

Why They Won’t Win: They don’t get to face Domo Arigato on Lane 3 OR Butter’s alter ego Ryan shows up and pulls off the upset of all upsets to take them out at in the first round.

#4 Domo Arigato Mr. Roberto

Why They Can Win: Pat is one of the greatest rollers of all time and coming off yet another 400 season. Dawson is as good a second roller as there is in the league & they found themselves a quality third roller in Johnny D’Eletto.

Why They Won’t Win: If they pull Lane 3, look out. Pat “only” gets a 45 in his first hundo and Dawson can’t seem to find his 40 and the self destruction will surely happen.

#3 Whole Lotta Holes

Why They Can Win: Andrew is stupid good. Being the leadoff roller has not affected him one bit & having a duo of Katie DiMento & Alex Green roll in the preferable spots has elevated them to become a very good team.

Why They Won’t Win: Andrew wins one trophy too many during the mini games and is barely coherent by the time the HRT starts. After getting upset in the semi finals, he starts ripping more beer than he can handle and by the time the Semi Finals start, he passes out on the lane.

#2 Whiskee Tango Foxtrot

Why They Can Win: Certainly helps to have the six-time MVSkee on the team. Myself & Mike Grato put together a solid run last season and made it to the Finals with subs as our 3rd. Adding Danny Grewe to the team has been a welcome addition and helped get us to the 2 spot.

Why They Won’t Win: I don’t win shit except regular season trophies guys. Sorry in advance to Grato & Danny.

#1 Give Your Balls a Tug

Why They Can Win: They’re the top seed for a reason folks. Put up absurdly high scores, breaking 1100 four times during the season, including the season high 1196. Things were all set up for them to put up solid numbers however…

Why They Won’t Win: ….they’re going to be WITHOUT Chuck, who’s 379 is good for 7th in the league this season and trying to replace that quality score, particularly up the middle will be difficult. Can Devin & Patrick find a sub who can be the stalwart for them to continue this hot streak?

All I got tonight folks, see you all bright and early tomorrow!
