Meet the Season 22 Champions – The Sachems. And they certainly earned it. The finals match was one for the ages. I forget the exact score going into the 10th but I want to say it was a 2-point game. Rooskee Rob helped the Sachems get to the finals, but he almost let the pressure get the best of him with a near choke in the 10th frame (that’s the way I remember it 😉 ). Mike, Sachems last roller, needed a 540 to tie and 550 to win.
Four straight hundo’s to start the 10th and Justin yelled at him to go up the middle. Smart move. Do the math. 400 points with 5 balls left. 4 out of 5 40’s and you win. Or 3 40’s and a 30. Or even 2 50’s. It’s a no brainer to switch up the middle. And yet every season I watch someone blow it with bad math (read: Jerry or Eric). So Mike switched up the middle and went 20, 20, 40, 20.
An absolute brutal 4 ball stretch. But a 40 still ties and a 50 wins. What does Mike do? He switches back to hundo and nails it.
