Chuck Rolls a Perfect 900
Chuck Rolls a Perfect 900 – What a crazy Week 1. After taking the summer off to work on their golf game, the Skeeballin’ Ducks are back to make another run at the team championship in Skeeson X. I always give these guys shit for taking the summer off, because they come back rusty and struggle in the fall skeeson. Not so much this skeeson!
In Week 1, the team they were supposed to roll against weren’t able to make it so Everett and I issued a little challenge to make things interesting. Ev and Righty, plus a 3rd roller who was given 200 points for the match vs. the Ducks. Of course Pat piped up immediately and said we didn’t have a chance. I laughed. He even accidentally tried to give us 250 points instead of 200… but we settled at 200. The bet – a round of bru-ha-ha’s to the winner.
Five frames in and things weren’t looking good. We were down 80 points and on the brink of getting blown out. Then Chuck rolled an 18, followed Ian and another 18 a round or two later. The lead was cut to 3. The pressure got to the Ducks and we took the lead for good (or at least what I thought was for good) with a 63 in the 10th frame to go up 73 with only Chuck left. His previous two hundo frames were 18 and 27. It was in the bag. As I tallied our totals I could see people in the crowd starting to pay attention to lane 3, the lane we had been rolling on(this only happens for one reason, which someone has a perfect hundo streak going). I immediately looked at the score and Chuck had sunk the first 5 hundos. One ball at a time he knocked down three more. Pat started to celebrate early (because he can’t count to nine) and I grabbed him as he tried to tackle Chuck before his last ball. Luckily I was in time, and we had another Perfect 900! Not only was it perfect, it was by far the most clutch 900 rolled of all time. Down 73, needing to basically hit 8 hundos to win… Chuck nailed them all. Incredible.
