Season 7 Kickoff & 2 Year Anniversary
Season 7 Kickoff & 2 Year Anniversary – As we get ready to kick off Season 7 we are also celebrating our 2-year anniversary! For those of you that don’t know how it all started, it was back in the small town of Fuquay-Varina (pronounced few-quay), North Carolina, when my neighbor and good friend Ray tried to get me to sub on his skeeball team. My immediate answer was NO. I thought to myself that there can’t really be a skeeball league can there? I’m pretty sure the conversation took place during a game of cornhole one day. Now that I think about it, it makes complete sense (maybe Ray was smarter than I give him credit for). Cornhole and skeeball both require hand-eye coordination and it was obvious that I worked harder on my cornhole game in college than my GPA (sorry Mom).
So after Ray upped the invite to include a bucket of beer if I subbed it was a no brainer. Who says no to a bucket of PBR’s? Not this guy. Plus, I secretly loved skeeball growing up as a kid so I was kind of curious about this skeeball league anyways. I mean who didn’t love skeeball as a kid? Well, let’s just say I was hooked from the minute that first ball left my hand. I ended up playing in the league for 5 seasons, made some great friends and won a few trophies along the way.
Then The Duchess and I moved to Boston. New city. New job. New EVERYTHING. But NO skeeball. It was a perfect match from day one. I bought a couple skeeball machines, talked my way into The Greatest Bar and started skeeBOSTON! Over the last 2 years I have made some incredible friends and grown to love the city of Boston. It’s been a great ride so far and I am looking forward to the seasons ahead. Thank you to ALL the people who have played in the league, but especially those that keep coming back season after season. You are the reason this league is such a fun place to hang out at on a week night.
Okay, okay. Enough of the sappy shit. Let’s get to the important part of this post. Next Thursday night we will be hosting our Season 7 Kickoff Event combined with our 2 year anniversary. We will be hosting a 1v1 skeeball tournament starting at 7:30pm. The winner of the skeeball tournament will take home a pair of Bruins tickets. We will also be giving away a bunch of PBR’s swag and one lucky person will win FREE SKEE for the entire season!
