Season 14 – Week 7 Picks

Guest Writer

Greetings high rollers!

We’re in the home stretch of skeeson 14 and things are starting to take shape for the team and individual titles.  FKA Daddy rolled their lowest score of the skeeson last week (956….hello, lane 1), but it was still enough to put them at #1.  For now [Editor’s Note: Whoa… new #1 ;)].  Looming just 1034 points behind is Ain’t Easy Being Skeezy as they had a DNR last week.

This looks to be a two-horse race right now, but with Skeezy on lane 1 this week and FKA Daddy closing the skeeson there, I think a few other teams are still in the hunt – notably Han Rolo (coming off a skeeson-high 1114) and Trickskee Little Hobbits.  And I can’t completely rule out two teams with a handful of DNRs between them – No Mike in the Plumber’s Shed and Skeeing is Believing.  Week 7 and the make-up night on Tuesday will go a long way to determining the favorite heading into next week…I’d love to see 4-5 teams with a chance to win it!

It’s also worth noting that another 10 teams, in addition to Han Rolo, ran off their best scores of the skeeson last week – Why so Skeerious?, Run DMSkee, Live Skee or Die, One if By Lane Two if By Skee, Beer!, The 3 Buttskeeteers, Charlie Doesn’t Skee, The Big Leballskee, Pop Fizz Skee, and No Mike in the Plumber’s Shed.  Definitely the right time of the skeeson to be peaking!

On the individual side, I have to wonder if Chris Martin (Conspiraskee Theorists) rolled himself out of the MVSkee race with a 346 last week [Editor’s Note: you would have never known talking to him… LOL].  According to the schedule, he rolled on a lane 2 so I don’t have a great explanation…live and die by the hundo?!?  Chris has been hot and cold all skeeson – two weeks at 350 or below, and four weeks above 425.  A 13-point gap behind Pat “Alan” Bassett (Trickskee) is going to be tough to close, but Alan rolls week 8 on the Lane of Broken Dreams, so it’s not quite over yet.

If the skeeson ended today, Janelle “I Want a Trading Card So Bad” Suckley (Beer!) would finish just outside the top 32 around #37.  She is trending in the right direction, however, fresh off a skeeson high 357 last week.  With a few DNRs to make up, if she can keep up that pace she might just get that first trading card after 14 skeesons [Editor’s Note: queue the blog post!].

On the other hand, can someone send out an APB on former MVSkee Scottie “Too Hottie” Sinclair (Live Skee or Die)?  He’s currently the #11 roller in the league, as he’s more than 35 points off from his skeeson 13 average.  But what really stands out is that SkeeBOSTON’s all-time 40/50 Combo leader has yet to roll for a single pin this skeeson!  Zero.  Zilch.  Nada [Editor’s Note: YIKES! Maybe all that jet-lag. Kid travels every week].  At this point last skeeson he had 16 pins (13 Combos, 3 50 Streaks), so I’m a little befuddled as to what’s going on. [Editor’s Note: 30 rollers currently with at least one pin… and no Scottit too Hottie. HA].  Is Scottie the Peyton Manning of SkeeBOSTON?!? [Editor’s Note: No, that’s Nick Weir. Hi Nick!]

Shout out to John “Polischoke” Polischuck (Conspiraskee Theorists) for breaking 300 for the first time this skeeson[Editor’s Note: hahaha. No seriously. HAHAHAHA. Shots fired.]!  Never thought we’d see “polisCHOKE” roll within 50 points of skeemate Chris in a given week.

I was able to hang on at 2-2 with the picks last week, and got a gift for the first time this skeeson when a matchup I would have likely lost decided to DNR.  Speaking of DNRs….there are a lot of them!  Something tells me TGB is going to be a crowded on Tuesday [Editor’s Note: It better be, or there will be a lot of zero’s showing up!].

6:30:  Why So Skeerious? vs. Conspiraskee Theorists (-50) – I expect another 400+ performance from Chris in a bounce-back week but Polischoke won’t break 300 again.  Skeerious is on a good run right now so I’ll take them getting the points. [Editor’s Note: Wrong. 0 – 1. ;)]

7:30:  Skeeing Is Believing (-200) vs. Skeese Pizza – SIB broke 1100 last week, but I think 200 points is too much to give against a hungry Pizza team (skee what I did there?).

8:30:  Pop Fizz Skee vs. Run DMSkee (-150) – The ladies of Pop Fizz Skee – Kristen, Kyra, Sara – are coming off a skeeson best 888.  The same can be said of Run DMSkee as they cracked 1000 for the first time last week.  Enter the Lane of Broken Dreams.  Womp womp.  I like the ladies getting the points.

9:30:  Skee 3PO (-65) vs. Frame of Thrones – An intriguing matchup of two teams in the middle of the pack jockeying for playoff position.  In a battle of teams this close, I like taking the points.  Winter is coming for Skee 3PO.

10:30:  Trickskee Little Hobbits vs. Magically Skeelicious (Pick)  – Closing out week 6 with two top 7 teams.  It’s an interesting matchup as Trickskee has the higher floor but Magic the Gathering has the higher ceiling.  Trickskee needs a good week to have any shot at the team title, so I’ll lean on them in a close one.

Week 6: 2-2
Skeeson 14 to date:  11-13 [Editor’s Note: still below .500 aka losing!]

Skee you on the lanes!!
